The sun was eclipsed during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so he hurried out in alarm, dragging his garment, until he came to the mosque. He continued praying until the eclipse cleared, then he said, "Some people claim that the sun and moon are eclipsed only because of the death of one of the great ones, but it is not so. The sun and moon are not eclipsed for the death or life of anyone. When Allah manifests Himself to anything in His creation, it submits humbly before Him."

انكسفت الشمس على عهد رسول الله ﷺ فخرج فزعا يجر ثوبه حتى أتى المسجد فلم يزل يصلي حتى انجلت ثم قال إن أناسا يزعمون أن الشمس والقمر لا ينكسفان إلا لموت عظيم من العظماء وليس كذلك إن الشمس والقمر لا ينكسفان لموت أحد ولا لحياته فإذا تجلى الله لشيء من خلقه خشع له
Its isnad is daif. Nasai narrated it, 3/141, Eclipse, Another Type, no. 1486, from the hadith of Abdul-Wahhab, through him, and Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih, no. 1403, 1404. Bayhaqi said, "This is mursal. Abu Qilaba did not hear it from Numan bin Bashir, rather he narrated it from a man from Numan." It has another defective route with Abu Dawud, no. 1185, 1186, and others.
