The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The time is near when a man will be reclining on his couch, and a hadith of mine will be conveyed to him, and he will say, 'Between us and you is the Book of Allah . Whatever we find lawful in it, we declare lawful, and whatever we find forbidden in it, we declare forbidden.' But indeed, what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ has forbidden is like what Allah has forbidden."
حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة قال حدثنا زيد بن الحباب عن معاوية بن صالح حدثني الحسن بن جابر
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال يوشك الرجل متكئا على أريكته يحدث بحديث من حديثي فيقول بيننا وبينكم كتاب الله عز وجل ما وجدنا فيه من حلال استحللناه وما وجدنا فيه من حرام حرمناه ألا وإن ما حرم رسول الله ﷺ مثل ما حرم الله
Sourcing, its isnad is hasan. Tirmidhi transmitted it in the Book of Knowledge, chapter on what has been forbidden regarding saying so-and-so, 2664, from the hadith of Muawiya bin Salih through this route, and he said, "This is a hasan gharib hadith from this route." Hakim graded it sahih, 1/109.
