The Prophet ﷺ used to be approached about a matter of need after he stepped down from the pulpit on Friday.
حدثنا محمد بن بشار حدثنا أبو داود حدثنا جرير بن حازم عن ثابت
أن النبي ﷺ كان يكلم في الحاجة إذا نزل عن المنبر يوم الجمعة
[Its chain is daif] Abu Dawud Sijistani narrated it, Prayer, Chapter of the imam speaking after coming down from the pulpit, no. 1120, from the hadith of Jareer through this route, and Bukhari and others declared it daif. Jareer bin Hazim was described by Bayhaqi and others as practicing tadlis, and I did not find an explicit statement that he heard it directly.
