The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When it is the day of Jumuah, angels stand at every gate of the mosque recording the people in the order of their arrival, the first then the next. When the imam comes out, they fold up their scrolls and listen to the sermon. The one who comes earliest to the prayer is like one who offers a camel, then the one after him is like one who offers a cow, then the one after him is like one who offers a ram," until he mentioned the chicken and the egg.Sahl added in his version, "Whoever comes after that has only come to fulfill the duty of the prayer."
حدثنا هشام بن عمار وسهل بن أبي سهل قالا حدثنا سفيان بن عيينة عن الزهري عن سعيد بن المسيب
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال إذا كان يوم الجمعة كان على كل باب من أبواب المسجد ملائكة يكتبون الناس على قدر منازلهم الأول فالأول فإذا خرج الإمام طووا الصحف واستمعوا الخطبة فالمهجر إلى الصلاة كالمهدي بدنة ثم الذي يليه كمهدي بقرة ثم الذي يليه كمهدي كبش حتى ذكر الدجاجة والبيضة زاد سهل في حديثه فمن جاء بعد ذلك فإنما يجيء بحق إلى الصلاة
Muslim narrated it in the chapter on Jumuah, in the section on the virtue of coming early on Friday, no. 850, from the hadith of Sufyan, transmitted through this same chain, and Busiri said this is a sahih isnad.
