Abdullah bin Umar reported,

I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, when he stood for prayer, raise his hands until they were level with his shoulders. He would do this when he said the takbir for bowing, and he would do it when he raised his head from bowing, saying, "Allah hears whoever praises Him." But he would not do it during prostration.
