I fell ill, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to visit me along with Abu Bakr, both of them on foot. When he reached me, I had lost consciousness. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed ablution and then poured the water of his ablution over me, and I regained consciousness.I said, "Messenger of Allah," and Sufyan sometimes said that he asked, "Messenger of Allah, how shall I dispose of my wealth? What shall I do with my wealth?"He gave me no reply until the verse of inheritance was revealed.
حدثنا علي بن عبد الله حدثنا سفيان قال سمعت ابن المنكدر يقول سمعت
مرضت فجاءني رسول الله ﷺ يعودني وأبو بكر وهما ماشيان فأتاني وقد أغمي علي فتوضأ رسول الله ﷺ ثم صب وضوءه علي فأفقت فقلت يا رسول الله وربما قال سفيان فقلت أي رسول الله كيف أقضي في مالي كيف أصنع في مالي قال فما أجابني بشيء حتى نزلت آية الميراث
