He had met the Prophet ﷺ. His mother, Zaynab bint Humayd, took him to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "Messenger of Allah, take his pledge of allegiance."The Prophet ﷺ replied, "He is too young."Then he wiped his head and prayed for him. He used to sacrifice a single sheep on behalf of his entire household.

وكان قد أدرك النبي ﷺ وذهبت به أمه زينب بنت حميد إلى رسول الله ﷺ فقالت يا رسول الله بايعه فقال النبي ﷺ هو صغير فمسح رأسه ودعا له وكان يضحي بالشاة الواحدة عن جميع أهله
