The Prophet ﷺ heard the noise of a dispute at his door, so he came out to them and said, "I am only a human being, and litigants come to me. It may be that one of them is more eloquent than the other, so I rule in his favor based on that, thinking he is telling the truth. Whoever I rule in favor of by giving him something that belongs to a Muslim by right, it is only a piece of the Fire, so let him take it or leave it."
حدثنا أبو اليمان أخبرنا شعيب عن الزهري أخبرني عروة بن الزبير أن زينب بنت أبي سلمة أخبرته
سمع النبي ﷺ جلبة خصام عند بابه فخرج عليهم فقال إنما أنا بشر وإنه يأتيني الخصم فلعل بعضا أن يكون أبلغ من بعض أقضي له بذلك وأحسب أنه صادق فمن قضيت له بحق مسلم فإنما هي قطعة من النار فليأخذها أو ليدعها
