He was asked about a man who vowed that no day would pass without him fasting, and then a day of Adha or Fitr coincided with that vow. He replied, "You have indeed in the Messenger of Allah an excellent example to follow" [Ahzab 33:21]. He did not fast on the day of Adha or the day of Fitr, nor did he hold it permissible to fast on those days.
