While the Prophet ﷺ was delivering a sermon, he noticed a man standing. He asked about him, and the people said, "That is Abu Israil. He has vowed to remain standing without sitting, not to seek shade, not to speak, and to fast."The Prophet ﷺ said, "Tell him to speak, to seek shade, to sit down, and to complete his fast."Abdul-Wahhab said, Ayub narrated to us from Ikrima from the Prophet ﷺ.
حدثنا موسى بن إسماعيل حدثنا وهيب حدثنا أيوب عن عكرمة
بينا النبي ﷺ يخطب إذا هو برجل قائم فسأل عنه فقالوا أبو إسرائيل نذر أن يقوم ولا يقعد ولا يستظل ولا يتكلم ويصوم فقال النبي ﷺ مره فليتكلم وليستظل وليقعد وليتم صومه قال عبد الوهاب حدثنا أيوب عن عكرمة عن النبي ﷺ
He also reported the hadith of Wahib, from Ayub, from Ikrima, from Ibn Abbas, "While the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was delivering a sermon, Abu Israel stood up." Thaqafi and Ibn Ulaya reported it from Ayub as a mursal narration.
The Hafiz also said in the introduction, after mentioning Daraqutni's statement, "I say, Bukhari indicated the disagreement about it and relied on Wahib's hadith because of his precise memory." End of quote.
