The Prophet ﷺ used to stay with Zaynab bint Jahsh and drink honey at her home. So Hafsa and I agreed that whichever of us the Prophet ﷺ came to would say, "I smell the odor of maghafir on you. Have you eaten maghafir?" He went in to one of them, and she said that to him.He replied, "No, but I drank honey at Zaynab bint Jahsh's home, and I will not go back to it again."Then there was revealed, "Prophet, why do you forbid yourself what Allah has made lawful for you" [Tahrim 66:1], and "If you two turn in repentance to Allah" [Tahrim 66:4], addressed to Ayesha and Hafsa, and "And when the Prophet confided a matter to one of his wives" [Tahrim 66:3], referring to his saying, "No, but I drank honey."Ibrahim bin Musa related to me, from Hisham, "And I will not go back to it again. I have already sworn to that, so do not tell anyone about it."
حدثنا الحسن بن محمد حدثنا الحجاج عن ابن جريج قال زعم عطاء أنه سمع عبيد بن عمير يقول
أن النبي ﷺ كان يمكث عند زينب بنت جحش ويشرب عندها عسلا فتواصيت أنا وحفصة أن أيتنا دخل عليها النبي ﷺ فلتقل إني أجد منك ريح مغافير أكلت مغافير فدخل على إحداهما فقالت ذلك له فقال لا بل شربت عسلا عند زينب بنت جحش ولن أعود له فنزلت {يا أيها النبي لم تحرم ما أحل الله لك} {إن تتوبا إلى الله} لعائشة وحفصة {وإذ أسر النبي إلى بعض أزواجه حديثا} لقوله بل شربت عسلا وقال لي إبراهيم بن موسى عن هشام ولن أعود له وقد حلفت فلا تخبري بذلك أحدا
