The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came upon Umar bin Khattab while he was traveling with a group of riders and swearing by his father. He said, "Allah forbids you to swear by your fathers. Whoever wishes to swear must swear by Allah or remain silent."
حدثنا عبد الله بن مسلمة عن مالك عن نافع
أن رسول الله ﷺ أدرك عمر بن الخطاب وهو يسير في ركب يحلف بأبيه فقال ألا إن الله ينهاكم أن تحلفوا بآبائكم من كان حالفا فليحلف بالله أو ليصمت
