Alqama traveled to Sham.Abu Walid narrated to us, Shuba narrated to us, from Mughira, from Ibrahim, who said, Alqama went to Sham. He entered the mosque and prayed two rakahs, then said, "O Allah, grant me a good companion to sit with."So he sat down beside Abu Darda, who asked him, "Where are you from?"He replied, "From the people of Kufa."Abu Darda said, "Is there not among you the keeper of the secret which no one else knew?" meaning Hudhayfa. "And is there not among you, or was there not among you, the one whom Allah granted protection from Satan through the tongue of His Messenger ﷺ?" meaning Ammar. "And is there not among you the companion of the siwak and the cushion?" meaning Ibn Masud.Then he asked, "How did Abdullah recite 'By the night when it covers' [Layl 92:1]?"Alqama replied, "And the male and the female."Abu Darda said, "These people kept at it until they nearly made me doubt, though I heard it from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ himself."
حدثنا يحيى بن جعفر حدثنا يزيد عن شعبة عن مغيرة عن إبراهيم
أنه قدم الشأم ح و حدثنا أبو الوليد حدثنا شعبة عن مغيرة عن إبراهيم قال ذهب علقمة إلى الشأم فأتى المسجد فصلى ركعتين فقال اللهم ارزقني جليسا فقعد إلى أبي الدرداء فقال ممن أنت قال من أهل الكوفة قال أليس فيكم صاحب السر الذي كان لا يعلمه غيره يعني حذيفة أليس فيكم أو كان فيكم الذي أجاره الله على لسان رسوله ﷺ من الشيطان يعني عمارا أوليس فيكم صاحب السواك والوساد يعني ابن مسعود كيف كان عبد الله يقرأ {والليل إذا يغشى} قال والذكر والأنثى فقال ما زال هؤلاء حتى كادوا يشككوني وقد سمعتها من رسول الله ﷺ
