I was walking with the Prophet ﷺ in the lava plain of Madinah one evening when Uhud came into view. He said, "Abu Dharr, I would not wish to have gold the size of Uhud, with even a single dinar of it remaining with me after a night, or three nights, except what I set aside for a debt, unless I were to say with it among the servants of Allah like this, and like this, and like this," gesturing with his hand to his right, his left, and behind him.Then he said, "Abu Dharr."I replied, "At your service, Messenger of Allah."He said, "Those who have the most will be those who have the least on the Day of Judgment, except for one who says like this and like this."Then he said to me, "Stay in your place, Abu Dharr. Do not leave until I return."He went off until he disappeared from my sight, and I heard a sound. I feared that something had befallen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so I wanted to go after him, but then I remembered the Messenger of Allah's ﷺ words, "Do not leave," so I stayed.When he returned, I said, "Messenger of Allah, I heard a sound and feared that something had happened to you. Then I remembered your command, so I stayed."The Prophet ﷺ said, "That was Jibreel. He came to me and informed me that whoever from my nation dies without associating anything with Allah will enter Paradise."I asked, "Messenger of Allah, even if he commits adultery and even if he steals?"He answered, "Even if he commits adultery and even if he steals."I said to Zayd, "I was told that this was Abu Darda."He replied, "I bear witness that Abu Dharr narrated it to me at Rabadhah."Amash said, "And Abu Salih narrated to me from Abu Darda something similar." Abu Shihab said, narrating from Amash, "remaining with me beyond three nights."
حدثنا عمر بن حفص حدثنا أبي حدثنا الأعمش حدثنا زيد بن وهب حدثنا والله
كنت أمشي مع النبي ﷺ في حرة المدينة عشاء استقبلنا أحد فقال يا أبا ذر ما أحب أن أحدا لي ذهبا يأتي علي ليلة أو ثلاث عندي منه دينار إلا أرصده لدين إلا أن أقول به في عباد الله هكذا وهكذا وهكذا وأرانا بيده ثم قال يا أبا ذر قلت لبيك وسعديك يا رسول الله قال الأكثرون هم الأقلون إلا من قال هكذا وهكذا ثم قال لي مكانك لا تبرح يا أبا ذر حتى أرجع فانطلق حتى غاب عني فسمعت صوتا فخشيت أن يكون عرض لرسول الله ﷺ فأردت أن أذهب ثم ذكرت قول رسول الله ﷺ لا تبرح فمكثت قلت يا رسول الله سمعت صوتا خشيت أن يكون عرض لك ثم ذكرت قولك فقمت فقال النبي ﷺ ذاك جبريل أتاني فأخبرني أنه من مات من أمتي لا يشرك بالله شيئا دخل الجنة قلت يا رسول الله وإن زنى وإن سرق قال وإن زنى وإن سرق قلت لزيد إنه بلغني أنه أبو الدرداء فقال أشهد لحدثنيه أبو ذر بالربذة قال الأعمش وحدثني أبو صالح عن أبي الدرداء نحوه وقال أبو شهاب عن الأعمش يمكث عندي فوق ثلاث
