When the muezzin fell silent after the first call for the dawn prayer, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would rise and pray two brief units of prayer before the dawn prayer, once daybreak had become clear. Then he would lie down on his right side until the muezzin came to him for the iqamah.
حدثنا أبو اليمان قال أخبرنا شعيب عن الزهري قال أخبرني عروة بن الزبير أن
كان رسول الله ﷺ إذا سكت المؤذن بالأولى من صلاة الفجر قام فركع ركعتين خفيفتين قبل صلاة الفجر بعد أن يستبين الفجر ثم اضطجع على شقه الأيمن حتى يأتيه المؤذن للإقامة
