A man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "Messenger of Allah, I am ruined!"The Prophet ﷺ said, "Woe to you! What happened?"The man replied, "I had relations with my wife during Ramadan."The Prophet ﷺ said, "Free a slave."He said, "I cannot find one."The Prophet ﷺ said, "Then fast two consecutive months."He said, "I am not able to."The Prophet ﷺ said, "Then feed sixty poor people."He said, "I cannot find the means."A large basket of dates was then brought to the Prophet ﷺ, and he said, "Take this and give it in charity."The man said, "Messenger of Allah, should I give it to someone other than my own family? By the One in whose hand is my soul, there is no household between the two lava plains of Madinah more in need than mine."The Prophet ﷺ laughed until his canine teeth showed, and said, "Take it."Yunus corroborated this from Zuhri. Abdul-Rahman bin Khalid reported it from Zuhri with the wording "Woe to you!"
