When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent him and Muaz bin Jabal, he said to them, "Make things easy and do not make them difficult. Give glad tidings and do not drive people away. Cooperate with one another."Abu Musa said, "Messenger of Allah, we are going to a land where they make a drink from honey called bita and a drink from barley called mizr."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "Every intoxicant is forbidden."
حدثني إسحاق حدثنا النضر أخبرنا شعبة
لما بعثه رسول الله ﷺ ومعاذ بن جبل قال لهما يسرا ولا تعسرا وبشرا ولا تنفرا وتطاوعا قال أبو موسى يا رسول الله إنا بأرض يصنع فيها شراب من العسل يقال له البتع وشراب من الشعير يقال له المزر فقال رسول الله ﷺ كل مسكر حرام
Bukhari narrated from Ishaq bin Shahin, from Khalid, from Shaybani, from Saeed bin Abu Burda, from his father, from Abu Musa, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, sent him to Yemen, and he asked him about drinks made there. The rest of the hadith continues, and he said, "Every intoxicant is forbidden."H. Bukhari said, and Jareer and Abdul-Wahid narrated it from Shaybani, from Abu Burda.Abu Hasan said, a group of hadith masters narrated it from Shaybani, differing from Khalid. Among them were Jareer, Abdul-Wahid, Ibn Fudayl, Ali bin Mushir, Amr bin Abu Qays, Thawri, Ibrahim bin Zubarqan, Warqa, Ibrahim bin Tahman, Saeed bin Hazim, Mansur bin Abu Aswad, and others. They narrated it from Shaybani, from Abu Burda, from his father, and did not mention Saeed bin Abu Burda in the chain.
