Asma bint Abu Bakr reported,

My mother came to me while she was still a polytheist, during the period of the treaty between Quraysh and the Prophet ﷺ, when they had made a pact with him along with her father. I sought the Prophet's ﷺ guidance, saying, "My mother has come to me hoping for my kindness. Should I maintain ties with her?"He replied, "Yes, maintain ties with your mother."
