Anas bin Malik reported,

Some people who were ill said, "Messenger of Allah, give us shelter and food."When they recovered, they said, "Madinah's climate does not agree with us."So he settled them at al-Harrah with some of his camels and told them, "Drink their milk."Once they regained their health, they killed the Prophet's ﷺ shepherd and drove off his camels. He sent men after them, and when they were captured, their hands and feet were cut off and their eyes were branded with hot iron. I saw one of them biting at the ground with his tongue until he died.Sallam said, It reached me that Hajjaj said to Anas, "Tell me of the harshest punishment the Prophet ﷺ ever inflicted."So Anas told him this account. When this reached al-Hasan, he said, "I wish he had not told him this."
