The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Put out the lamps when you go to sleep, lock the doors, tie up the waterskins, and cover your food and drink." I believe he also said, "Even if only by placing a stick across it."

أن رسول الله ﷺ قال أطفئوا المصابيح إذا رقدتم وغلقوا الأبواب وأوكوا الأسقية وخمروا الطعام والشراب وأحسبه قال ولو بعود تعرضه عليه
