Abu Talha was the wealthiest of the Ansar in Medina in terms of palm groves, and the dearest of his properties to him was Bayruha, which faced the mosque. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to enter it and drink from its sweet water.Anas said, when the verse was revealed, "You will never attain righteousness until you spend from what you love" [Aal Imran 3:92], Abu Talha rose and said, "Messenger of Allah, Allah says, 'You will never attain righteousness until you spend from what you love', and the dearest of my property to me is Bayruha. It is a charity for the sake of Allah, and I hope for its reward and treasure with Allah. So place it, Messenger of Allah, wherever Allah shows you."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Excellent! That is profitable property," or he said "departing property" (Abdullah was uncertain which), "and I have heard what you said. I think you should give it to your relatives."Abu Talha said, "I will do so, Messenger of Allah."So Abu Talha distributed it among his relatives and his paternal cousins.Ismail and Yahya bin Yahya said, "departing property."
حدثنا عبد الله بن مسلمة عن مالك عن إسحاق بن عبد الله أنه سمع
كان أبو طلحة أكثر أنصاري بالمدينة مالا من نخل وكان أحب ماله إليه بيرحاء وكانت مستقبل المسجد وكان رسول الله ﷺ يدخلها ويشرب من ماء فيها طيب قال أنس فلما نزلت {لن تنالوا البر حتى تنفقوا مما تحبون} قام أبو طلحة فقال يا رسول الله إن الله يقول {لن تنالوا البر حتى تنفقوا مما تحبون} وإن أحب مالي إلي بيرحاء وإنها صدقة لله أرجو برها وذخرها عند الله فضعها يا رسول الله حيث أراك الله فقال رسول الله ﷺ بخ ذلك مال رابح أو رايح شك عبد الله وقد سمعت ما قلت وإني أرى أن تجعلها في الأقربين فقال أبو طلحة أفعل يا رسول الله فقسمها أبو طلحة في أقاربه وفي بني عمه وقال إسماعيل ويحيى بن يحيى رايح
