Both of them narrated together the hadith of Malik, from Zuhri, from Anas, "We used to pray Asr, then whoever among us wished to go would go to Quba." This is something counted against Malik, because he made it marfu, and said in it, "to Quba," while a great many others contradicted him, among them Salih bin Kaysan, Shuayb, Amr bin Harith, Yunus bin Yazid, Layth bin Saad, Maamar, Ibn Abu Dhib, Ibrahim bin Abu Abla, Zuhri's nephew, Numan, Abu Uways, and Abdul-Rahman bin Ishaq. They both also narrated the statement of those who contradicted Malik.

Hafiz said in Fath, Ibn Abdul-Barr said, "There is no disagreement among those who transmitted from Malik that he said in this hadith, 'to Quba.' But none of the companions of Zuhri followed him in this. Rather, all of them say, 'to the Awali,' and that is what is correct according to the people of hadith." He said, "Malik's statement 'to Quba' is undoubtedly a mistake."Hafiz also said in the introduction to Fath, page 352, third volume, after citing the statement of Daraqutni, "Nasai also criticized Malik on this point, and the point of criticism is his statement 'to Quba,' while the group all said 'to the Awali.' A minor mistake like this does not necessarily cast doubt on the soundness of the hadith, especially since both of them (Bukhari and Muslim) recorded the version that is preserved as correct.
