The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray the Asr prayer when the sun was still high and bright. A person could then set out to al-Awali, reach them, and the sun would still be high. Some parts of al-Awali were about four miles or so from Madinah.
حدثنا أبو اليمان قال أخبرنا شعيب عن الزهري قال حدثني
كان رسول الله ﷺ يصلي العصر والشمس مرتفعة حية فيذهب الذاهب إلى العوالي فيأتيهم والشمس مرتفعة وبعض العوالي من المدينة على أربعة أميال أو نحوه
