We set out on the expedition known as the Army of the Leaves, with Abu Ubayda in command. We suffered severe hunger, then the sea cast up a dead fish the like of which had never been seen, called the ambergris fish. We ate from it for half a month. Abu Ubayda took one of its bones, and a rider passed beneath it.
