I was with the Prophet ﷺ somewhere between Mecca and Medina. The others were in a state of ihram, but I was not. I was riding a horse, and I was skilled at climbing mountains. While we were traveling, I noticed the people staring intently at something, so I went to look, and there was a wild donkey.I asked them, "What is this?"They said, "We do not know."I said, "It is a wild donkey."They replied, "It is whatever you saw."I had forgotten my whip, so I said to them, "Hand me my whip."They said, "We will not help you with it."So I dismounted, picked it up myself, then chased the donkey. It was only a short while before I brought it down. I came back to them and said, "Get up and carry it."They said, "We will not touch it."So I carried it myself until I brought it to them. Some of them refused to eat, while others ate. I said to them, "I will stop the Prophet ﷺ and ask him for you."I caught up with him and told him what had happened. He asked me, "Is there any of it left with you?"I said, "Yes."He said, "Eat, for it is food that Allah has provided for you."
