In the case of Barirah, three legal rulings were established. She was freed and then given the choice regarding her marriage. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The right of loyalty belongs to the one who frees the slave."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered while a pot was on the fire. Bread and some side dish from the household provisions were brought near him. He asked, "Did I not see a pot on the fire?"It was said, "That is meat given in charity to Barirah, and you do not eat from charity."He replied, "It is charity for her and a gift for us."
حدثنا عبد الله بن يوسف أخبرنا مالك عن ربيعة بن أبي عبد الرحمن عن القاسم بن محمد
كان في بريرة ثلاث سنن عتقت فخيرت وقال رسول الله ﷺ الولاء لمن أعتق ودخل رسول الله ﷺ وبرمة على النار فقرب إليه خبز وأدم من أدم البيت فقال ألم أر البرمة فقيل لحم تصدق به على بريرة وأنت لا تأكل الصدقة قال هو عليها صدقة ولنا هدية
