The Prophet ﷺ said, "Your time compared to the time of the nations who came before you is like the period between the afternoon prayer and sunset. The example of you and the Jews and Christians is like a man who hired workers and said, 'Who will work for me until midday for one qirat?' So the Jews worked. Then he said, 'Who will work for me from midday until the afternoon for one qirat?' So the Christians worked. Then you work from the afternoon until sunset for two qirats each."The Jews and Christians said, "We did more work yet received less pay."He asked, "Have I wronged you of any of your due?"They said, "No."He said, "That is my bounty which I grant to whomever I wish."
حدثنا مسدد عن يحيى عن سفيان حدثني عبد الله بن دينار قال سمعت
عن النبي ﷺ قال إنما أجلكم في أجل من خلا من الأمم كما بين صلاة العصر ومغرب الشمس ومثلكم ومثل اليهود والنصارى كمثل رجل استعمل عمالا فقال من يعمل لي إلى نصف النهار على قيراط فعملت اليهود فقال من يعمل لي من نصف النهار إلى العصر على قيراط فعملت النصارى ثم أنتم تعملون من العصر إلى المغرب بقيراطين قيراطين قالوا نحن أكثر عملا وأقل عطاء قال هل ظلمتكم من حقكم قالوا لا قال فذاك فضلي أوتيه من شئت
