He heard the Prophet ﷺ giving a sermon in which he mentioned the she-camel and the man who hamstrung her. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited, "When the most wretched of them was sent forth" [Shams 91:12], and explained that the one who rose to do it was a powerful, ruthless, and well-protected man among his people, like Abu Zama.Then he mentioned women and said, "One of you beats his wife the way a slave is beaten, and then perhaps he will sleep with her at the end of the same day."Then he admonished them about laughing at someone passing wind, saying, "Why does one of you laugh at something he himself does?"Abu Muawiya reported, Hisham narrated to us from his father, from Abdullah bin Zama, that the Prophet ﷺ said, "like Abu Zama, the uncle of Zubayr bin Awwam."

أنه سمع النبي ﷺ يخطب وذكر الناقة والذي عقر فقال رسول الله ﷺ {إذ انبعث أشقاها} انبعث لها رجل عزيز عارم منيع في رهطه مثل أبي زمعة وذكر النساء فقال يعمد أحدكم فيجلد امرأته جلد العبد فلعله يضاجعها من آخر يومه ثم وعظهم في ضحكهم من الضرطة وقال لم يضحك أحدكم مما يفعل وقال أبو معاوية حدثنا هشام عن أبيه عن عبد الله بن زمعة قال النبي ﷺ مثل أبي زمعة عم الزبير بن العوام
