The first to come to us from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ were Musab bin Umayr and Ibn Umm Maktum, and they began teaching us the Quran. Then came Ammar, Bilal, and Saad. Then Umar bin Khattab arrived with a group of twenty. Then the Prophet ﷺ himself came. I never saw the people of Madinah rejoice over anything as much as they rejoiced over his arrival. Even the young girls and children were saying, "This is the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he has come." He did not arrive until I had already learned "Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High" along with other surahs like it.
حدثنا عبدان قال أخبرني أبي عن شعبة عن أبي إسحاق
أول من قدم علينا من أصحاب النبي ﷺ مصعب بن عمير وابن أم مكتوم فجعلا يقرئاننا القرآن ثم جاء عمار وبلال وسعد ثم جاء عمر بن الخطاب في عشرين ثم جاء النبي ﷺ فما رأيت أهل المدينة فرحوا بشيء فرحهم به حتى رأيت الولائد والصبيان يقولون هذا رسول الله ﷺ قد جاء فما جاء حتى قرأت سبح اسم ربك الأعلى في سور مثلها
