I was standing in the mosque when a man threw a pebble at me. I looked up and saw that it was Umar bin Khattab. He said, "Go and bring me those two men."So I brought them to him.He asked, "Who are you?" or "Where are you from?"They replied, "We are from the people of Taif."He said, "Had you been from the people of this town, I would have given you a painful beating. You raise your voices in the mosque of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?"
حدثنا علي بن عبد الله قال حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد قال حدثنا الجعيد بن عبد الرحمن قال حدثني يزيد بن خصيفة
كنت قائما في المسجد فحصبني رجل فنظرت فإذا عمر بن الخطاب فقال اذهب فأتني بهذين فجئته بهما قال من أنتما أو من أين أنتما قالا من أهل الطائف قال لو كنتما من أهل البلد لأوجعتكما ترفعان أصواتكما في مسجد رسول الله ﷺ
