Abdullah bin Abbas reported,

When the verse "If there are twenty steadfast among you, they will overcome two hundred, and if there are a hundred of you" [Anfal 8:65] was revealed, it was prescribed upon them that one man must not flee from ten. Sufyan said on another occasion, "That twenty must not flee from two hundred."Then the verse "Now Allah has lightened your burden" [Anfal 8:66] was revealed, so it was prescribed that a hundred must not flee from two hundred.Sufyan added on one occasion that the verse revealed was "Urge the believers to fight. If there are twenty steadfast among you" [Anfal 8:65].Sufyan said, and Ibn Shabrama said, "I consider enjoining good and forbidding evil to be just like this."
