The wine that was poured out was fadikh. Muhammad al-Baykandi added to me from Abu Numan, who said, "I was the cupbearer for the people at the house of Abu Talha when the prohibition of wine was revealed. He ordered an announcer, and the announcer called out."Abu Talha said, "Go out and see what this sound is."He said, "So I went out and said, 'This is an announcer calling out that wine has been prohibited.'"He said to me, "Go and pour it out."He said, "So it flowed through the streets of Medina. Their wine in those days was fadikh."Some of the people said, "Some men were killed while it was still in their stomachs."So Allah revealed, "There is no blame upon those who believe and do righteous deeds for what they have consumed" [Maidah 5:93].
