The Messenger of Allah ﷺ, during the illness in which he died, kept asking, "Where will I be tomorrow? Where will I be tomorrow?" meaning Ayesha's day. So his wives gave him permission to be wherever he wished, and he stayed in Ayesha's house until he died there.Ayesha said, "He died on the day that was my turn, in my house. Allah took his soul while his head was between my throat and my chest, and his saliva mingled with mine."Then she said, "Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Bakr came in carrying a tooth-stick that he was using to clean his teeth. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ looked at it, so I said to him, 'Give me that tooth-stick, Abdul-Rahman.' He handed it to me, and I bit off the tip and chewed it to soften it, then gave it to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He cleaned his teeth with it while leaning against my chest."
