Bara bin Azib reported,

A man came to him and asked, "Abu Umarah, did you turn back on the Day of Hunayn?"He replied, "As for me, I bear witness that the Prophet ﷺ did not turn back. Rather, the hasty ones among the people rushed forward and Hawazin showered them with arrows, while Abu Sufyan bin Harith was holding the bridle of his white mule, and he was saying, 'I am the Prophet, no lie. I am the son of Abdul-Muttalib.'"
