On the day of the conquest of Makkah, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came down from the upper part of Makkah riding his mount, with Usama bin Zayd seated behind him. Bilal was with him, along with Uthman bin Talha, who was one of the keepers of the Kabah. He made his mount kneel at the mosque and ordered Uthman to bring the key to the House. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then entered, accompanied by Usama bin Zayd, Bilal, and Uthman bin Talha. He remained inside for a long part of the day before coming out.The people rushed to enter, and Abdullah bin Umar was the first to go in. He found Bilal standing behind the door and asked him where the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had prayed. Bilal pointed out the spot where he had prayed.Abdullah said, "I forgot to ask him how many rakahs he had prayed."
