His father was martyred on the day of Uhud, leaving behind debt and six daughters. When the time came for harvesting the date palms, he said, I went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "You know that my father was martyred on the day of Uhud and left behind a heavy debt. I would like the creditors to see you."He said, "Go and gather each type of dates into a separate heap."I did so, then I called him. When the creditors saw him, it was as if they pressed their claims against me even more aggressively at that moment. When he saw what they were doing, he walked around the largest heap three times, then sat down on it and said, "Call your companions over to me."He kept measuring out dates for them until Allah settled my father's debt on his behalf. I would have been content for Allah to settle my father's debt even if I returned to my sisters without a single date. Yet Allah preserved all the heaps, and indeed I looked at the heap upon which the Prophet ﷺ had been sitting, and it was as if not a single date had been reduced from it.
