The Prophet ﷺ said, "People are like ores. The best of them in the age of ignorance are the best of them in Islam, once they gain understanding. And you will find that among the best of people is the one most reluctant to take on this office of authority, until he is placed in it."
والناس معادن خيارهم في الجاهلية خيارهم في الإسلام إذا فقهوا تجدون من خير الناس أشد الناس كراهية لهذا الشأن حتى يقع فيه
