Jubayr bin Mutim reported,

I, along with Uthman bin Affan, walked over to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "Messenger of Allah, you have given to the sons of Muttalib but left us out, even though our relationship to you and theirs is the same."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "The sons of Muttalib and the sons of Hashim are one and the same."Layth said, Yunus narrated to me and added, Jubayr said that the Prophet ﷺ did not allocate any share to the sons of Abd Shams or to the sons of Nawfal.Ibn Ishaq said that Abd Shams, Hashim, and Muttalib were brothers from the same mother, whose name was Atikah bint Mura, while Nawfal was their brother through their father only.
