The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to grant some of the members of the expeditions he dispatched an extra share for themselves personally, in addition to the share given to the army as a whole.

أن رسول الله ﷺ كان ينفل بعض من يبعث من السرايا لأنفسهم خاصة سوى قسم عامة الجيش
