The Prophet ﷺ and Ubayy bin Kaab set out toward the date palms where Ibn Sayyad was. When the Prophet ﷺ entered the grove, he began to conceal himself behind the trunks of the palm trees, hoping to overhear something from Ibn Sayyad before Ibn Sayyad noticed him. Ibn Sayyad was lying on his bed wrapped in a velvet cloak, from which a murmuring sound could be heard.Then Ibn Sayyad's mother saw the Prophet ﷺ hiding behind the palm trunks, so she said to Ibn Sayyad, "Saf!" which was his name. Ibn Sayyad started up, and the Prophet ﷺ said, "Had she left him alone, it would have become clear."
