When the Prophet's ﷺ helmet was shattered upon his head, his face was bloodied, and his front tooth was broken, Ali kept bringing water in his shield while Fatimah washed the wound. When she saw that the bleeding only increased with the water, she took a piece of straw mat, burned it, and pressed it against his wound, and the bleeding stopped.

لما كسرت بيضة النبي ﷺ على رأسه وأدمي وجهه وكسرت رباعيته وكان علي يختلف بالماء في المجن وكانت فاطمة تغسله فلما رأت الدم يزيد على الماء كثرة عمدت إلى حصير فأحرقتها وألصقتها على جرحه فرقأ الدم
