Abdullah bin Abbas reported,

On the day Mecca was conquered, the Prophet ﷺ said, "There is no migration after the conquest, but rather jihad and intention. When you are called to march out, then march out. This is a land that Allah made sacred the day He created the heavens and the earth, and it remains sacred by the sanctity of Allah until the Day of Resurrection. Fighting in it was not made lawful for anyone before me, and it was made lawful for me only for a portion of a day. So it is sacred by the sanctity of Allah until the Day of Resurrection. Its thorny shrubs are not to be cut, its game is not to be startled, and its lost property is not to be picked up except by one who will announce it, nor is its fresh grass to be cut."Abbas said, "Messenger of Allah, except for the idhkhir grass, for it is used by their blacksmiths and in their houses."He said, "Except for the idhkhir."
