He informed him that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ set out for the Hajj and they went out with him. He sent a group of them off, among whom was Abu Qatada, and said, "Take the route along the seacoast until we meet up." So they took the seacoast route.When they set off, all of them entered the state of ihram except Abu Qatada, who did not. While they were traveling, they spotted some wild donkeys. Abu Qatada charged at the donkeys and brought down a female. They stopped and ate from its meat, then said, "Are we eating the meat of game while we are in ihram?" So they carried what remained of the donkey's meat.When they came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, they said, "Messenger of Allah, we had entered ihram, but Abu Qatada had not. We saw wild donkeys, and Abu Qatada charged at them and brought down a female. We stopped and ate from its meat, then we said, 'Are we eating the meat of game while we are in ihram?' So we carried what remained of its meat."He asked, "Did any of you instruct him to charge at it or point it out to him?"They replied, "No."He said, "Then eat what remains of its meat."
حدثنا موسى بن إسماعيل حدثنا أبو عوانة حدثنا عثمان هو ابن موهب قال أخبرني
أخبره أن رسول الله ﷺ خرج حاجا فخرجوا معه فصرف طائفة منهم فيهم أبو قتادة فقال خذوا ساحل البحر حتى نلتقي فأخذوا ساحل البحر فلما انصرفوا أحرموا كلهم إلا أبو قتادة لم يحرم فبينما هم يسيرون إذ رأوا حمر وحش فحمل أبو قتادة على الحمر فعقر منها أتانا فنزلوا فأكلوا من لحمها وقالوا أنأكل لحم صيد ونحن محرمون فحملنا ما بقي من لحم الأتان فلما أتوا رسول الله ﷺ قالوا يا رسول الله إنا كنا أحرمنا وقد كان أبو قتادة لم يحرم فرأينا حمر وحش فحمل عليها أبو قتادة فعقر منها أتانا فنزلنا فأكلنا من لحمها ثم قلنا أنأكل لحم صيد ونحن محرمون فحملنا ما بقي من لحمها قال أمنكم أحد أمره أن يحمل عليها أو أشار إليها قالوا لا قال فكلوا ما بقي من لحمها
