Hafsa bint Umar bin Khattab reported,

We used to prevent our young unmarried girls from going out for the Eid prayer. Then a woman came and stayed at the fortress of Banu Khalaf, and she related that her sister had been married to one of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who had fought in twelve military expeditions alongside the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and her sister had accompanied him on six of them.She said, "We used to treat the wounded and tend to the sick. My sister asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, 'Is there any harm if one of us does not go out because she has no outer garment?'He replied, 'Let her companion lend her one of her own garments, so that she may witness the goodness and the supplication of the believers.'"When Umm Atiya arrived, they asked her, or she said, we asked her. Whenever she mentioned the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, she would always say, "May my father be sacrificed for him."We said, "Did you hear the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say such and such?"She answered, "Yes, may my father be sacrificed for him. He said, 'Let the young unmarried girls who stay behind the curtains come out,'" or she said, "'the young unmarried girls and those behind the curtains, and the menstruating women, so that they may witness the goodness and the supplication of the Muslims. But the menstruating women should keep away from the prayer area.'"I asked, "Even the menstruating women?"She replied, "Does she not witness Arafah, and witness such and such, and witness such and such?"

عن حفصة قالت

كنا نمنع عواتقنا أن يخرجن فقدمت امرأة فنزلت قصر بني خلف فحدثت أن أختها كانت تحت رجل من أصحاب رسول الله ﷺ قد غزا مع رسول الله ﷺ ثنتي عشرة غزوة وكانت أختي معه في ست غزوات قالت كنا نداوي الكلمى ونقوم على المرضى فسألت أختي رسول الله ﷺ فقالت هل على إحدانا بأس إن لم يكن لها جلباب أن لا تخرج قال لتلبسها صاحبتها من جلبابها ولتشهد الخير ودعوة المؤمنين فلما قدمت أم عطية رضي الله عنها سألنها أو قالت سألناها فقالت وكانت لا تذكر رسول الله ﷺ أبدا إلا قالت بأبي فقلنا أسمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول كذا وكذا قالت نعم بأبي فقال لتخرج العواتق ذوات الخدور أو العواتق وذوات الخدور والحيض فيشهدن الخير ودعوة المسلمين ويعتزل الحيض المصلى فقلت أالحائض فقالت أوليس تشهد عرفة وتشهد كذا وتشهد كذا
