We set out with the Prophet ﷺ thinking only of performing Hajj. When we arrived, we performed tawaf around the Kabah, and the Prophet ﷺ ordered those who had not brought sacrificial animals to exit the state of ihram. So those who had not brought sacrificial animals exited ihram, and his wives, who had not brought any, also exited ihram.Ayesha said, "I began menstruating, so I could not perform tawaf around the Kabah. On the night of Hasbah, I said, 'Messenger of Allah, the people are returning with both an Umrah and a Hajj, while I return with only a Hajj.'"He asked, "Did you not perform tawaf during the nights we arrived in Mecca?"I replied, "No."He said, "Then go with your brother to Tanim and enter ihram for Umrah, and your appointed meeting place is such-and-such."Safiyyah said, "I think I will be holding them back."He said, "May you be wounded, may your hair be shorn! Did you not perform tawaf on the Day of Sacrifice?"She said, "Yes, I did."He said, "Then there is no harm. Depart."Ayesha
said, "The Prophet ﷺ met me as he was ascending from Mecca while I was descending toward it, or I was ascending and he was descending from it."
