Abdullah bin Umar reported,

He used to relate that Umar bin Khattab gave a horse in charity for the cause of Allah, then later found it being sold. He wanted to buy it back, so he went to the Prophet ﷺ to seek his permission. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Do not take back what you have given in charity."Because of this, Ibn Umar رضي الله عنهم would never reclaim by purchase anything he had given in charity, but would instead give it again as charity.
