After that, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ went off with Ubayy bin Kaab to the date palms where Ibn Sayyad was, hoping to overhear something from Ibn Sayyad before Ibn Sayyad saw him. The Prophet ﷺ caught sight of him lying down in a velvet cloak of his, from which came a low murmuring or humming sound. Ibn Sayyad's mother saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as he was concealing himself behind the trunks of the palm trees, so she said to Ibn Sayyad, "Saf!" Saf being Ibn Sayyad's name. "This is Muhammad ﷺ!" Ibn Sayyad then sprang up, and the Prophet ﷺ said, "Had she left him alone, it would have become clear."Shuayb said in his version, "a murmuring or humming." Ishaq al-Kalbi and Aqeel said, "a murmuring." Muamar said, "a humming sound."
وقال سالم سمعت
انطلق بعد ذلك رسول الله ﷺ وأبي بن كعب إلى النخل التي فيها ابن صياد وهو يختل أن يسمع من ابن صياد شيئا قبل أن يراه ابن صياد فرآه النبي ﷺ وهو مضطجع يعني في قطيفة له فيها رمزة أو زمرة فرأت أم ابن صياد رسول الله ﷺ وهو يتقي بجذوع النخل فقالت لابن صياد يا صاف وهو اسم ابن صياد هذا محمد ﷺ فثار ابن صياد فقال النبي ﷺ لو تركته بين وقال شعيب في حديثه فرفصه رمرمة أو زمزمة وقال إسحاق الكلبي وعقيل رمرمة وقال معمر رمزة
