Ayesha, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, would never hear anything she did not understand without going back over it until she understood it. The Prophet ﷺ once said, "Whoever is called to account is punished."Ayesha said, "I asked, 'But does Allah Most High not say, "He will be reckoned with an easy reckoning" [Inshiqaq 84:8]?'"She said that he replied, "That is only the presentation of the deeds. But whoever is examined closely in the reckoning is ruined."
حدثنا سعيد بن أبي مريم قال أخبرنا نافع بن عمر قال حدثني
أن عائشة زوج النبي ﷺ كانت لا تسمع شيئا لا تعرفه إلا راجعت فيه حتى تعرفه وأن النبي ﷺ قال من حوسب عذب قالت عائشة فقلت أوليس يقول الله تعالى {فسوف يحاسب حسابا يسيرا} قالت فقال إنما ذلك العرض ولكن من نوقش الحساب يهلك
Both of them (Bukhari and Muslim) narrated the hadith of Ayub, from Uthman bin Aswad, from Ibn Abu Mulayka, from Ayesha, "Whoever is called to account will be punished." Bukhari added the version from Nafi bin Umar, from Ibn Abu Mulayka, from Ayesha.They also both narrated the hadith of Hatim, from Ibn Abu Mulayka, from Qasim, from Ayesha, with the same wording, despite the differences between the two chains.
The Hafiz mentioned something similar in Fath al-Bari. In the introduction to Fath al-Bari, page 374 (Turkish printing), after citing the words of Daraqutni, he said, "I say, in Bukhari's narration from the hadith of Uthman, it says, 'I heard Ayesha.' So it appears that he narrated it on the possibility that he had heard it from Qasim from Ayesha, and then also heard it from Ayesha herself, so he reported it both ways, and Ibn Abu Mulayka heard it, as is the case in similar instances."
