Ayesha reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Your affair after me is something that concerns me deeply, and none will be patient with you except the patient ones."Ayesha then would say, "May Allah give your father drink from Salsabil in Paradise," referring to Abdul-Rahman bin Awf, who had given the wives of the Prophet ﷺ a generous gift of property. It is said that it was sold for forty thousand.
عن عائشة أن رسول الله ﷺ كان يقول: إن أمركن لمما يهمني بعدي، ولن يصبر عليكن إلا الصابرون. قال: ثم تقول عائشة: فسقى الله أباك من سلسبيل الجنة، تريد عبد الرحمن بن عوف، وقد كان وصل أزواج النبي ﷺ بمال، يقال: بيعت بأربعين ألفا.
Narrated by Tirmidhi (3749) and Ahmad (24485). Ibn Hibban (6995) and Hakim (3/312) graded it sahih. All of them transmit it through the route of Bakr bin Mudar, who said, Sakhr bin Abdullah bin Harmala told us, from Abu Salama bin Abdul-Rahman, from Ayesha, and he related it. Tirmidhi said, "This is a hasan gharib hadith."Its chain of transmission is hasan because of Sakhr bin Abdullah bin Harmala Al-Mudliji, for he is hasan al-hadith. Nasai said, "Salih." Ibn Hibban and Ajli both deemed him reliable. Dhahabi said in At-Talkhis, "Sadooq."His saying, "Your affairs are among what concerns me after I am gone," refers to the affairs of his wives ﷺ. He had married eleven women, of whom some died while still married to him ﷺ, namely Khadijah bint Khuwaylid and Zaynab bint Khuzayma, the mother of the poor, while he himself passed away before the rest of them.Abdul-Rahman bin Awf was among those who took care of the affairs of the Mothers of the Believers after the Prophet ﷺ. He left a garden as an endowment for the Mothers of the Believers, which was sold for forty thousand, or four hundred thousand, as recorded by Tirmidhi (3750).
