We were sitting with the Prophet ﷺ when Saad bin Abu Waqqas approached. The Prophet ﷺ said, "This is my maternal uncle. Let any man show me his like."
كنا جلوسا عند النبي ﷺ فأقبل سعد بن أبي وقاص، فقال النبي ﷺ: هذا خالي، فليرني امرؤ خاله.
Tirmidhi (3752) narrated it from Abu Kurayb and Abu Saeed Ashaj, who said, Abu Usama narrated to us, from Mujalid (that is, bin Saeed), from Amir Shaybi, from Jabir bin Abdullah, and he related it.Tirmidhi said, "This is a rare hadith that we know only through the narration of Mujalid." This is not as he said, for Mujalid bin Saeed, although daif, was corroborated by another narrator.Hakim (3/498) narrated it from Abu Ali Hasan bin Ali the Hafiz, who said, Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Najiyah told us, Ali bin Saeed Kindi told us, Abu Usama told us, from Ismail bin Abu Khalid, from Shaybi, from Jabir, with the same content.Ali bin Saeed Kindi's hadith is hasan.Tirmidhi said, "Saad bin Abu Waqqas was from Banu Zahra, and the mother of the Prophet ﷺ was from Banu Zahra, so for that reason the Prophet ﷺ said, 'This is my maternal uncle.'"
